In this second episode, we learned that the ordinary “ū” pronunciation without the accent (ǖ) sounds like “oo” in “woo.” We also learned the bo po mo fo sounds, which will help greatly in pronouncing words in the future.bo po mo fo de te ne le guo kuo huo ji qi xi zhi chi shi ri zi ci si

For practicing purposes, replace the vowel after each of the letters. For example:

ba pa ma fa da ta na la ga ka ha zha cha sha ra za ca sa

(the j q x are omitted in this example because there are no such pronunciations in Mandarin)

Lastly, the vocabulary for the day is:

Hello: 你好 (ní hǎo)
Good-bye: 再见 (zài jiàn)
How are you?: 你好吗? (ní hǎo ma?)
My name is: 我的名字是 (wǒ de míng zì shì)
