Pieces of the puzzle are falling in place
I’m happy. Oddly enough, more happy than when I heard the news about being semi-finalist Wednesday. A Chinese newspaper wants to interview me, only me! On Thursday, someone who I believe was from New York Times came and took a picture of all six semi-finalists and then questioned us as a group, really about the school’s science research program. But now, I finally get to feel that fifteen minutes of fame I’ve heard so much about in quotes. Fifteen minutes may be short, but it sure makes me exuberant!
With this week over, a weight seems to be lifted off of my chest, as well. I always dislike the last week of a quarter, because all the work, tests, and last-minute studying takes place during that time. Even though I still have a statistics midterm next Tuesday, I’m not too worried, because I have a good amount of time to study over the weekend and there is only eight chapters of material that I have to remember. Afterwards, I can focus on my science research and extracurricular activities–maybe I can even put some time into fixing up my websites, since I’ve outgrown the look for quite a while already.
Also, I just remembered, I need to focus on my French when I have the extra time, as well. Time to start searching for some French movies so I can develop more of an ear. I’m always for the enjoying while learning methods–after all, I’ve found that when I watch Chinese dramas, I actually learn a lot of words. My parents were surprised when I could read some traditional Chinese, and also question them what “白痴” meant. But hey, learning even name-calling is good because it helps ingrain more of the culture into life.
