Searching up my own name

March 3, 2008 | Posted in Academics, Internet, Life | 2 Comments

You know how when you’re bored, you decide to give into self-conceit and search up your own name, curious to know what secrets would be shared with the world if someone just dared to Google your full name? Well, I did so tonight–out of procrastination, out of curiosity, and out of boredom. I wasn’t surprised to see that the top two links were this website. If they weren’t, I would be quite distressed. I was surprised, however, when I saw the Pretends to Be Free website link pop-up in the search results. This was an art contest that I had entered, the sole reason being that I didn’t want to create art using pen and ink. Great reason, no? Ah well, whatever motivation that pushes us to finish our art pieces.

I remember that I disliked my art piece because it didn’t come out any way that I had wanted it to and I only realized too late how I disliked using pastels–the medium that I chosen to use. It was my first time using them, and most likely, last time. Plus, when I was using the pastels, there seemed to be different kinds. In the beginning, I started using a type of pastel that seemed more like a crayon and in the end, I ended using pastels that smudged all over the place. I would draw a few lines and then using a paper towel to smear the color all over the place. The mix use didn’t turn out to my benefit.

I decided to look at the drawing, just to see how it turned out on the computer. It’s pretty low down there; I think I dislike this even more now.

I have to admit that my sister is the real artist in my family. I was surprised when she entered the same contest two years ago and walked away with nothing; her art piece was splendid (but don’t tell her I said that) yet nothing. Who knows how these contests are judged.

Below is my sister and my artworks. The worser of the two is mine (the two girls). The more impressive is my sister’s.

I don’t think I’ve ever commented before, but I do visit occasionally. ^^

Ah, I love pastels, but can’t use them too well. XP Yeah, your sister’s is really good, wow. O_O Yours is not bad, though, I like how you colored the fairy’s dress. ^^

Hmm, I think I just realized that your last name is exactly the same as mine. Neat! ^^

Thanks!

I’m not surprised that we share the same last name though; I believe at least 8 million people in this world has the last name “Liu.” It’s one of the more popular Chinese last names out there.

Would you like to respond?
