Dieting is the second step

April 11, 2008 | Posted in Health and Fitness, Life | 3 Comments

I have actually been keeping up with my exercise routine, save for Wednesday when I stayed after school for two hours and by the time I came home, I was too exhausted from too much school to do anything. Yes, I can be, as my mother calls me: a lazy bug.

But I’ve decided something new today. Now that I’m exercising relatively well per day, I’m going to start eating better, too. I’ve decided to do what I did two summers ago and eat exclusively vegetarian. Thus, I will no longer be eating any junk food or meat (except seafood). I will be filling my stomach with lots of tofu, rice, vegetables, and fruits. I’ve decided to eat at least two servings of fruit per day. I will also only drink water or 1% low-fat milk.

I hope I can manage to keep to that diet. This will be a challenge, especially during lunch at school when I always see many people eating all sorts of delicious high-calorie fatty foods. But their smells are quite tempting…. I also need to figure out something for breakfast. Usually, I don’t eat breakfast, but that of course is not healthy.

Last time I kept to a diet like this, I shed five pounds in a summer (no, I do not think it was the veggies cleaning out my system that made me lose weight). That might not sound like much, but I was pretty happy. Of course, I gained everything right back once school started. After summer this year, I’ll be going to college. That infamous freshman fifteen is just looming on the horizon….

I hate breakfast! I’d rather sleep those extra five minutes. But I will actually take the time for multi-grain cheerios! They’re good for you, and actually taste good too! You should give them a try! Good luck with your goals :-)

It’s easier to get the Freshman 15 because you’re away from home and your parents’ cooking so all you have is dining hall food. They’re okay, but when you’re hungry and you only have one option, then you eat what you can or you’ll go hungry for the rest of the night. That’s usually how people gain the extra weight.

Good luck! I need to go exercise more too.

Bah. Stupid dieting, I’ve given up on trying it, but I hope it works well for you. :)

Would you like to respond?
