Nothing but good news!

July 19, 2008 | Posted in Life | 2 Comments

After Wednesday and Thursday, when I got a little irritated that I had missed the UPS guy who was supposed to deliver my new Lenovo Thinkpad T61 notebook, I received nothing but good news on Friday!

On Thursday night, I received an email from a website design client that he really liked my design and wanted me to go ahead with the coding. Afterwards, on the morning of Friday, I woke up and came downstairs to discover that my notebook had been delivered! My dad actually signed for the UPS guy instead of me (I’m still having a bit of trouble waking up earlier), but at least I finally got my notebook! Right after I ripped apart the tape covering the box (and broke a pen in the process), I finally opened and turned on my notebook. It was a Thinkpad, so it wasn’t known for its beauty, but it worked pretty well. That is, after I had uninstalled a number of programs and disabled a plethora of other programs from start-up. But after all that was finished, my notebook is working pretty much like how I would like it to work. Vista definitely does not load slowly for me, and I do not understand why there are so many complaints. Perhaps it’s because I haven’t used Vista for a long while yet, but so far, it’s working pretty well. I also love the Thinkpad keyboard (it’s my favorite notebook keyboard).

A little bit later, I received an email from the internship I had applied to telling me that I had received the website design/development internship! I am very excited because I finally have something to do this summer! Also, after six weeks of website designing/development every day, I’m sure that my skill level will improve. When I get to college, perhaps I can just create websites to earn money to pay off my student portion instead of washing dishes and other such student jobs!

Now, all I have to do is finish coding a website for my client and upload it onto the Internet with a content management system. After that, I just have to create a brochure to go along with his organization, but that should be pretty simple.

Nothing can get my good mood down!
